Flights in the United States
This is a visualization of flights on the first day of each month
in 2015 (except October, for which there is oddly no data). Hover over a path to see
information about that flight at the top of the map. The green lines represent flights
that had no overall delay (departure delay + arrival delay) and the red lines represent
flights that had an overall delay. Choose a mode that you wish to view. You can choose
the month, the airline, the origin airport, the destination airport, or a time series map.
However, note that they are all independent of one another (i.e. you can't combine filters
like origin and destination airports). Also, note that the time series graph takes a while
to load, so please be patient.
In the time series graph, flights became more hectic
during vacation months (i.e. March, December, etc). Contrary to popular belief, flights do not
become more delayed as the year progresses. In the "choose your airline" mode, it is
apparent where the hubs are for certain airlines and who is generally on time and who isn't.
